Overview
Midwest Fencing Company is hiring an experienced Fence Installer Team Lead (Foreman) to run projects on-site from start to finish. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for crew performance, jobsite execution, material control, quality outcomes, and production efficiency on residential and commercial fencing projects throughout the Kansas City metro. We primarily install wood, chain link, and ornamental fencing. Candidates who enjoy building, lead by example, and take ownership of results will do well here.
Starting Location: Grandview, MO (meet at the shop daily before heading to job sites)
Pay & Benefits
- $23–$26/hour, based on experience and performance

- Required PPE provided (as needed), excluding work boots
Schedule Expectations
- Typical start time is 6:30–7:00 a.m. (varies by season)
- 10–12 hour days are expected
- 5–6 days/week may be required based on production load
- Work is weather-impacted; schedule may change due to weather conditions
- Overtime is not guaranteed and may not be consistently available due to the seasonal nature of the work
Core Responsibilities
- Own jobsite completion: execute the scope correctly, safely, and efficiently
- Lead a crew (typically 2–3 installers)—direction, pacing, accountability, and teamwork
- Review and understand project paperwork (scope, layout, materials, schedule, special instructions) and execute accordingly
- Manage material usage and waste; keep the jobsite organized and professional
- Maintain high workmanship standards and final appearance; complete punch items and closeouts
- Drive production and efficiency while protecting quality and safety
- Communicate job progress, issues, and needs to management (materials, scheduling, site conditions, customer concerns)
- Maintain strong client-facing professionalism and ensure the crew does the same
Equipment / Logistics Responsibilities
- Load your truck in the morning and verify materials/tools are ready for the day
- Must be capable of operating a forklift to load materials (forklift experience required)
- Frequently responsible for driving the truck and/or trailer
- Operate jobsite equipment as needed (augers, skid/mini equipment, etc., depending on project)
Required Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of the fencing industry, including wood, chain link, and ornamental installs
- Proven ability to lead and develop a crew in a production environment
- Highly self-motivated, quality- and efficiency-driven, and dependable
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Ability to pass a background check
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Forklift experience required
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions (heat, cold, wind, mud)
- Physically capable of lifting/carrying heavy materials and performing labor throughout the day
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills; takes ownership and follows through
Preferred (Not Required)
- Gate operator and access control experience (keypads, strikes, operators, basic troubleshooting)
- Welding experience
- Commercial project experience and ability to coordinate expectations on professional job sites
- Ability to train entry-level installers and improve crew performance
